Emergency Minister: Qatar sends special helicopters to support efforts put out fires on the Syrian coast

Damascus, SANA-Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed Al-Saleh , extended gratitude for the sisterly state of Qatar and the Qatari International Search and Rescue Group, of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), for sending five planes carrying fire-extinguishing helicopters, fire engines, and 138 human cadres, in support of efforts to extinguish forest fires in Latakia countryside.

Al-Saleh said in a post on the X platform “the first Qatari teams arrived this morning at Aleppo International Airport, and are on their way to the fire sites in Lattakia countryside.”

Al-Saleh added: “We highly appreciate this noble humanitarian participation, which reflects the depth of the fraternal ties between the Syrian and Qatari peoples.”

Firefighting teams are facing big difficulties during operations to contain Lattakia forest fires that broke out several days ago due to the strong winds, which led to renewed ignition of the fire.
