Syrian-Belgian talks to boost economic and investment cooperation

Damascus, SANA- – Director of Damascus and its countryside Chamber of Industry, Eng. Muhammad Ayman al-Mawlawi, received Wednesday the Belgian Ambassador to Beirut, Arnout Pauwels, and his accompanying delegation at the Chamber’s building in Damascus.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to boost bilateral relations in the fields of industry and trade, and to open direct channels of communication between companies in both countries.

They also discussed addressing challenges related to bank transfers, foreign bank transactions, and the import and export of raw materials.

Mawlawi stressed that the visit represents a starting point for fruitful economic cooperation and encourages exchange visits between businessmen in both countries.

Ambassador Pauwels said that the meeting contributes to improving the Syrian economic environment and opens new horizons for future cooperation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides stressed the importance of expanding the fields of alternative energy, insurance, and banking services, inviting Belgian companies to visit Syria and explore opportunities for cooperation and investment in the local market.

These discussions represent a positive step toward building broader economic cooperation between Syria and Belgium, benefiting all productive sectors and enhancing investment opportunities in the coming period.
