Head of Syrian Civil Aviation Authority: We Plan to Establish New Airports

Damascus, SANA-Head of the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority, Ashhad Al-Salibi, said there are several plans to establish new airports in Damascus, Aleppo, and the central region, as part of a national vision to modernize air infrastructure.

“The name of the Aviation Establishment has been changed into the General Authority for Civil Aviation Authority, and it will be linked to the Syrian Presidency, Al-Salibi told al-Ikhbariya in an interview on Saturday, adding that the step comes within a plan to restructure the aviation sector.

He pointed out to several challenges in the work of the aviation authority like the small number of planes.

“The current fleet includes only three planes, and we are seeking to import additional planes to compensate this shortage in number,” al-Salibi added.
