Damascus, SANA-President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Mr. Ahmad Al-Sharaa, performed on Frdiay Eid Al-Adha prayer at the people’s palace in Damascus, amid wide participation from Syrian Ministers and people.
Grand Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Osama Al-Rifai, members of the Supreme Fatwa Council, a number of state officials, commanders of the Syrian Arab Army and popular figures and activities also performed the prayer with the President, led by His Eminence Sheikh Abdul Rahim Atoun, Head of the Advisory Office for Religious Affairs at the Presidency of the Republic and a member of the Supreme Fatwa Council.
In the Eid sermon, Sheikh Atoun said that this year’s Eid al-Adha embodies the values of justice, freedom, dignity, and amity, which represent the values of Islam and faith that every Muslim should enjoy and upon which the new Syrian state will be established.
Member of the Supreme Fatwa Council emphasized the need to spread the atmosphere of amity, friendship, and harmony throughout society, with all its spectrum, by all possible means.
He also stressed the need to boost ties among people and build society after the era of injustice under the former ousted regime.
“Today, we have begun the process of building Syria, and building this country requires a lot from us in the areas of reconstruction and economic development. However, this material construction requires building the essence and building the spirit and the foundation of which is the fear of God Almighty,” Sheikh Atoun said
Following the Eid prayer, President Al-Sharaa received Eid al-Adha greetings and congratulations from state officials, military leaders, tribal sheikhs, and civil society figures.
