Sweida markets witness active rush ahead of Eid al-Adha

Sweida, SANA – In preparation for Eid al-Adha, markets in the city of Sweida are witnessing rush, with residents expressing relief at the availability of their holiday supplies, noting a drop in prices compared to last year.

SANA reporter in Sweida Governorate toured a number of the city’s markets and met with a number of citizens.
Retired teacher Huda Radwan pointed out that there is a difference in prices compared to last year, in terms of the decrease in sweets, meat, clothing, and various food items’ prices.

She said, “I buy according to my financial ability, as I am a retired teacher.”
Engineer Rania Ghazlan said: “Despite the relief of lower prices, many citizens have low incomes and are out of balance with prices.”

Um Salem, who has seven children, indicated that she is trying to find stores with greater discounts than others, so that she can secure their needs before Eid.

Deputy Chairmen of the Sweida Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Shafiq Gharzeddine, pointed out that due to the weak purchasing power and its impact on market activity, traders were contacted to offer goods at reasonable prices, and to emphasize their availability and diversification as required.
