Reopening of al-Arida border crossing with Lebanon

Tartous, SANA- General Authority for Land and Sea Ports announced Tusday the reopening of Al-Arida border crossing, which connects northern Lebanon to southwestern Syria, linking Tartous and Tripoli governorates.

In a press statement, Director of Relations at the General Authority for Land and Sea Ports, Mazen Alloush, said that “We have reopened Al-Arida crossing, and approximately 1,500 travelers from both sides have crossed smoothly, along with hundreds of vehicles, between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM.”

Alloush emphasized that passenger movement is running seamlessly, with no reported obstacles. He noted that staff are stationed throughout the crossing’s facilities, including entry and exit points, passenger halls, and customs checkpoints. He also highlighted the direct coordination with counterparts on the Lebanese side to address any potential challenges.

The official further explained that the early reopening was prompted by the high number of travelers wishing to enter Syria for the Eid al-Adha holiday. While the crossing has been prepared effectively, some finishing touches will be completed after the holiday.

He reaffirmed that the Authority is fully equipped to provide all necessary services and facilitation for Syrian, Arab, and foreign travelers passing through this key border gateway.
