Minister of information discusses “Media cooperation” with Qatari Chargé d'Affaires

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Information Dr. Hamza Mustafa discussed Sunday with Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Qatari Chargé d’Affaires in Damascus, prospects of media cooperation and building up a strategic partnership to enhance Syrian media.

During the meeting, the Minister presented a comprehensive overview of “efforts being made to reactivate Syrian media based on national and professional foundations to restore Syrian citizens’ confidence in their national media”.

Dr. Mustafa explained the Ministry has relaunched Al- ekhbaria TV in early May 2025 and is to officially relaunch Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) next month, and to publish Al-Thawra newspaper in print at the beginning of next September.

Regarding electronic media, Dr.Mustafa said that the ministry is currently working on a plan to develop news websites and digital journalism, update their visual identity with highest security standards.

Minister Mustafa clarified that efforts are currently focused on building a media strategy open to international media and to facilitate foreign press work in the country.

The Minister of Information also discussed with the Qatari diplomat plans to develop drama production in Syria, aiming at promoting the values ​​of citizenship and peaceful coexistence.

He expressed willingness to “establish strategic partnerships” with Qatar TV to support drama production, taking advantage of Syria’s rich landscape and environment.

The Qatari Chargé d’Affaires expressed his country’s readiness to “provide all forms of support to advance Syrian media, implement media partnerships and strategic cooperation plans between the media outlets in both countries”.

He expressed Qatar’s readiness to share expertise in establishing a professional and modern media infrastructure in Syria.
