Oil and gas extraction resumed in northeastern Syria under previous contract

Damascus, SANA- Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources has confirmed that the resumption of oil and natural gas extraction from northeastern Syria comes under a previously established contract, which has been legally reviewed and amended to align with the interests of the Syrian people, for an initial period of three months.

“A comprehensive review of the contract was conducted to ensure its compliance with national laws and to meet the needs of the local market. This aims to enhance the operation of power generation plants, as part of the Ministry’s efforts to maximize the benefit from our natural resources for the benefit of the Syrian people,” Ahmad al-Suleiman, Public Relations Officer at the Ministry, told SANA.

Al-Suleiman added: “The Ministry will continue to work on providing the necessary energy, by all possible means, to meet the needs of citizens and improve the services provided to them.”
