87 Judges from Terrorism Court referred to investigation

Damascus, SANA- Ministry of Justice issued a decision Wednesday to refer 87 judges who have served in various capacities within the Terrorism Court since its establishment until the present time to the Judicial Inspection Department for investigation regarding their conduct during their service in the aforementioned court.

The Judicial Inspection Department will submit a final report on the disciplinary and legal violations proven against the aforementioned judges to the High Judicial Council, according to the decision published by the Ministry on its Telegram channel.

The Ministry noted that this decision comes in accordance with the requirements of public interest and transitional justice.

The former regime established the Terrorism Court in Damascus under Law No. 22 of 2012, following the outbreak of the Syrian revolution. It has jurisdiction to try all persons, both civilians and military personnel, and its judgments in absentia are not subject to retrial if the convicted person is arrested unless they surrender themselves voluntarily.
