Damascus, SANA-Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Marwan Al-Halabi, discussed on Wednesday with the Chargé d’Affairs of the German Embassy in Damascus, Anne-Sophie Beckdorff, enhancing joint cooperation in the scientific and academic fields and exchanging expertise.
Al-Halabi stressed “the importance of scientific relations between Syria and Germany”, and expressed hope to “establish bilateral academic programs to enable the exchange of scientific expertise and the development of the quality of higher education in both countries”.
For her part, Beckdorff underlined “her country’s keenness to support scientific and research cooperation between Syrian and German universities”,.
She pointed out the importance of facilitating the return of Syrian academics who wish to return to their homeland, and the necessity of rebuilding trust between students within universities, especially after the recent events witnessed in some university cities. She hailed efforts exerted by the Syrian government to deal with the matter.
