Syrian-Turkish talks to improve electricity situation in Syria

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Electricity in the caretaker government, Eng. Omar Shaqrouq, discussed with a delegation from the Turkish Ministry of Electricity ways of joint cooperation in the electricity and energy sector in Syria.

Minister Shaqrouq underlined the importance of cooperation with the Turkish side in a way that would benefit Syria at this stage.

Director of the General Corporation for Electricity Generation, Eng. Omar Brijawi, reviewed the reality of the work of the power plants.Syrian-Turkish talks to improve electricity situation in Syria

Brijawi highlighted necessity to operate the plants and rehabilitate the generating sets, and to carry out maintenance and secure the necessary spare parts, as well as the need of these stations of petroleum derivatives.

The Turkish delegation was briefed on the actual situation of the power plants, the existing technical problems and their needs of petroleum derivatives.

The Turkish delegation confirmed its country’s readiness to help secure electricity for Syria as soon as possible.
In turn, Director of the General Establishment for Electricity Transmission and Distribution, Eng. Khaled Abu Di, reviewed the current situation of the Syrian network, the feeding mechanism and the malfunctions occurring in it, in addition to the shortage of materials needed to rehabilitate the electrical network at all voltages.
