Security Forces arrest two ISIS suspects in Deir Ezzor following grenade attack

Deir Ezzor, Dec. 5 (SANA)The Internal Security Directorate in the Mayadin area of Deir Ezzor Governorate successfully apprehended two individuals on Friday, who had recently thrown a hand grenade at the directorate building.

A security source told SANA that the suspects, were arrested following precise field monitoring and ongoing investigations. Preliminary inquiries and phone examinations revealed that the two were affiliated with an ISIS cell and were planning actions aimed at undermining security and stability in the region.

The source added that monitoring the suspects’ movements helped gather evidence and complete the necessary legal procedures, and that both individuals have been referred to the competent judicial authorities.

This arrest follows a broader security operation carried out on Nov. 8 by units of the Interior Ministry, in coordination with the General Intelligence Directorate, targeting ISIS cells across several governorates. The operation was based on precise intelligence and careful tracking of the movements of these elements over several weeks.
