Stability Support Unit hosts session to advance reintegration plan for Al-Hol returnees

The Stabilization Support Unit held Sunday a dialogue session in Damascus titled “Caravan of Hope: A Roadmap Toward Sustainable Reintegration for Families Leaving al-Hol Camp,” with the participation of representatives from several ministries, international agencies, and local organizations.

The meeting included discussions and presentations on the challenges and opportunities facing returning families, as well as a review of previous transport operations from al-Hol, the lessons learned, and the roles and responsibilities of partner entities.

Monzer Sallal, Executive Director of the Stabilization Support Unit, told SANA that the session—organized in coordination with UNHCR—aimed to assess the situation in al-Hol Camp, identify the basic needs of returning families, and highlight the importance of facilitating the departure of the remaining residents, estimated at more than 14,000 people, most of them women and children.

He added that the discussions focused on developing a national plan for reintegration, expediting the release of the remaining families, and strengthening coordination among all stakeholders, including government bodies, international organizations, and a representative of the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh.

Late last month, the “Caravan of Hope 3” convoy arrived in Aleppo province from Al-Hol Camp, carrying women and children as part of efforts to return them to their areas in northwest Syria.

The Stabilization Support Unit  is a non-profit non-governmental organization established since 2016 that learns as a reference body through mechanisms and coordination procedures that allow the main stakeholders (representatives of governments, donors and implementers) to improve the level of planning and implementation of humanitarian and civic activities to assist in the management of northern Syria.
