Ceasefire Reached After SDF Night Attacks in Aleppo: Reporter

A ceasefire agreement was reached late Monday night after “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF) attacked Syrian security checkpoints near Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood and shelled nearby residential areas, according to a SANA reporter in Aleppo.

Clashes erupted after SDF forces attacked a Syrian security checkpoint near the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, resulting in casualties among security personnel and civilians.

“One security member was martyred and three members of the Internal Security Forces were wounded after SDF troops targeted security checkpoints around the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo city,” a security source told SANA.

Several civilians were also wounded in the strikes and were taken to Al-Razi Hospital, suffering injuries from mortar fire and heavy machine gun attacks targeting residential areas near Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafieh, according to the reporter.

Aleppo Governor Azzam Al-Gharib toured several hospitals and checked on the condition of those injured as a result of shelling.

Earlier on Sunday, the Defense Ministry said in a statement that the army’s recent movements in northern and northeastern Syria were part of a planned redeployment, not the start of new military operations.

The ministry stressed that Syrian government remains committed to the March 10 Agreement with (SDF) and has no plans to launch offensive actions, adding that the army’s current mission is to protect civilians and security forces from continued attacks.
