Syria declares Public Holiday on Thursday for Prophet’s Birthday
Damascus ,SANA The General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic announced that all public institutions in Syria will be closed on Thursday, September 4, in observance of the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday (Mawlid al-Nabawi)
The directive noted that provisions of Article 43 (paragraph C) of the Basic Law for State Employees will apply to institutions whose nature of work requires continued operations.
The Prophet’s Birthday is a religious occasion marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad, observed annually in the month of Rabi’ al-Awwal of the Islamic calendar. Many countries declare it an official holiday for government institutions.
