EU condemns attacks by former regime remnants in Syria's coastal region

Brussels , SANA -The European Union (EU) has denounced the recent attacks carried out by remnants of the deposed regime in Syria’s coastal region, urging all parties to respect Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

In a statement issued Monday, the EU Spokesperson said: “The European Union strongly condemns the recent attacks launched by Assad-loyal elements against the forces of the interim government in Syria’s coastal areas, as well as all acts of violence against civilians. Civilians must be protected under all circumstances, with full respect for international humanitarian law.”

The spokesperson added: “The European Union calls on all foreign actors to fully respect Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and condemns any attempts to undermine stability, peaceful transition prospects, and the respect for all Syrians in their diversity.”
