EU hopes a political agreement would ease sanctions on Syria

Brussels, SANA- High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union Kaja Kallas expressed Wednesday her hope that the EU would reach a political agreement on easing sanctions on Syria, during a meeting of EU foreign ministers next week.

“We are ready to implement a gradual approach, and also to discuss an alternative position,” Kallas said in an interview with Reuters.

European Union foreign ministers are scheduled to discuss lifting some sanctions on Syria at a meeting in Brussels on January 27th.
