London, Sept. 18 (SANA) A tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile in the Strait of Hormuz, sparking a fire that was later extinguished by the crew, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said Friday.
All crew members were safe, and no environmental damage had been reported, UKMTO said on X.
The agency had reported a security incident Thursday in the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Oman.
Preliminary ship-tracking data showed four cargo vessels transited the strait Thursday, down from six a day earlier and well below the 10-day average of about 16 vessels a day.
