Kyiv, Sept. 13 (SANA) Two people were killed and five others injured in Russian drone and air strikes across Ukraine’s Volyn, Zhytomyr and Rivne regions on Saturday evening, Ukrainian authorities said.
In the Zhytomyr region, a strike hit a gas station and a grocery store in the city of Zviahel, killing two people, regional military administration head Vitalii Bunechko said, according to Ukrinform.
A foreign-invested facility and gas stations in Zviahel and Korosten were also damaged, but no further casualties were reported.
In Volyn, acting regional military administration head Roman Romaniuk said more than 10 hostile targets entered the region’s airspace during an air raid alert. Most of the strikes targeted Kovel, injuring five people.
Drone debris also struck a passenger train in Lutsk, but passengers were evacuated and no injuries were reported.
In Rivne, Russian strikes destroyed a facility in the Sarny district, with no casualties initially reported.
Earlier this week, nine people were killed and 43 others injured in Russian drone and air strikes on the Sumy and Mykolaiv regions.
The attacks came as U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner visited Moscow and Kyiv as part of Washington’s diplomatic efforts to end the war, now in its fifth year.
