Doha, June 22 (SANA)    Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani held a phone call on Monday with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty to discuss bilateral relations and the latest regional and international developments, particularly diplomatic efforts to enhance security and stability in the region, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

The Qatari minister affirmed Qatar’s full support for the ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran, stressing the importance of reaching sustainable solutions to outstanding issues through dialogue and peaceful means to strengthen regional security and open broader horizons for cooperation and development, according to QNA. Qatar’s role in facilitating the negotiations that led to the US-Iran agreement has been widely recognized by regional states, including in a quadrilateral meeting of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan held in Cairo on June 21.

Abdelatty expressed his country’s condolences to Qatar and the families of the victims of the industrial explosion in the Ras Laffan industrial area, which killed 13 people and injured 66 others on Sunday.

Earlier Monday, the Qatari prime minister reaffirmed his country’s support for regional and international efforts to achieve peace and stability, renewing Qatar’s backing for Lebanon’s unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty. Egypt previously expressed hope that the US-Iran agreement would help reduce regional tensions and create momentum for resolving outstanding issues through dialogue.
