Washington, Mar.12 (SANA) President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the U.S. war with Iran is “close to ending,” arguing that there is “virtually nothing left of importance to strike” in the country.
Speaking to Axios, Trump said the campaign has largely met its objectives, though U.S. officials noted he has not issued any directive on when hostilities might stop.
Trump said the conflict is “going well” and that U.S. operations have caused “more damage than expected.” He accused Iran of seeking dominance in the Middle East and said it is now “paying the price.”
American and Israeli officials told Axios they expect strikes in Iran to continue for at least two more weeks. The conflict is nearing the end of its second week, with airstrikes spreading across parts of the Middle East.
