Beirut, June 22 (SANA) Lebanese President Joseph Aoun held talks on Monday with U.S. Vice President JD Vance, adviser Jared Kushner, and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on ways to reinforce a ceasefire in Lebanon and contain further escalation.
According to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA), the discussions took place during a phone call and focused on efforts to halt Israeli military escalation, alongside steps to bolster stability, including a proposal to establish a coordination cell to monitor developments.
The talks come amid ongoing Israeli strikes on Lebanese territory, which have killed 4,106 people and injured 12,153 others since March 2, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
Earlier on Monday, Qatar and Pakistan said in a joint statement that recent U.S.-Iran talks in Lucerne, Switzerland, had yielded “positive and constructive” results, paving the way for a possible final agreement.
