Several injured after Iranian drone strike hits Kuwait International Airport

Kwait City, June 3 (SANA) Several people were injured after Iranian drones struck Kuwait International Airport on Wednesday, damaging a passenger terminal and disrupting air traffic, Kuwaiti authorities said.

The attack targeted Terminal 1 of the airport, causing significant damage to the building and injuring several people, Defense Ministry spokesman Col. Saud al-Otaibi said, according to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

Al-Otaibi said Kuwait’s armed forces were coordinating with relevant authorities and remained on full alert to respond to any further developments.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation activated the airport’s emergency plan, suspended flights and diverted air traffic to alternative airports pending safety assessments and the completion of necessary procedures.

Technical teams have begun evaluating damage to airport facilities and operational systems before repair and rehabilitation work can begin, the authority said.

The incident came a day after U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said its forces had intercepted Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks launched toward countries in the Gulf region.
