Geneva, June 3 (SANA) Syria’s Minister of Social Affairs and Labour Hind Kabawat said Syria is seeking to build genuine partnerships with international partners that strengthen institutions supporting sustainable recovery while respecting Syrians’ ownership of their future.
Speaking during the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Kabawat said meaningful transformation should be measured by its impact on citizens’ daily lives.
“Syria is gradually rebuilding its sovereignty and needs partners who view it as a country capable of contributing to regional and international stability and growth, rather than merely as a humanitarian case,” she said.
Kabawat noted that Syria’s history demonstrates what the Syrian people can achieve when opportunities are available.
She pointed out that by the late 1950s, Syria had experienced one of the earliest waves of industrialization in the Arab world, particularly in the textile, cement, and food-processing sectors in Aleppo and Damascus, alongside a thriving stock market and broad confidence in the national economy.
The minister said the resilience that characterized Syria’s labor market during that period remains evident today.
Kabawat participated in the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference, which opened in Geneva with representatives from 187 member states of the International Labour Organization.
