Qatar and Turkey Discuss Regional De‑escalation Efforts

Doha, May 19 (SANA)  Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani discussed with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan regional developments and prospects for strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

According to the Qatari News Agency (QNA), the discussions took place during a phone call in which the two sides reviewed bilateral relations and ways to further enhance cooperation.

The talks also addressed developments in the region, particularly efforts related to the ceasefire between the United States and Iran, as well as ongoing mediation efforts aimed at reducing tensions and reinforcing regional security and stability.

The Qatari News Agencystressed the importance of all parties responding positively to mediation initiatives, saying such engagement could help address the root causes of the crisis through peaceful means and dialogue and pave the way toward a sustainable agreement that prevents renewed escalation.

Qatar had reaffirmed on May 10 its full support for diplomatic initiatives and Pakistani mediation efforts aimed at resolving the crisis peacefully, emphasizing the importance of constructive engagement by all parties to create favorable conditions for negotiations and a comprehensive, lasting agreement.
