Abu Dhabi, May 7 (SANA) UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides discussed regional developments and ways to expand bilateral cooperation during talks held Thursday in Abu Dhabi.
According to Emirates News Agency (WAM), the two leaders reviewed developments in the Middle East and discussed the impact of regional tensions on regional and international security and stability.
During the meeting, President Christodoulides reiterated Cyprus’ condemnation of Iranian attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure in the UAE and elsewhere in the region, describing them as violations of state sovereignty, international law and the United Nations Charter.
The talks also focused on strengthening cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, technology, renewable energy, education and culture within the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
The two sides discussed Cyprus’ current presidency of the Council of the European Union and the role it could play in supporting closer UAE-European relations.
The meeting comes amid heightened regional tensions following attacks targeting Emirati facilities, including an oil tanker operated by ADNOC and the Fujairah oil industries zone, incidents that drew broad regional and international condemnation.
