Washington, May 4 (SANA) The United States on Monday denied media reports that one of its naval vessels had been targeted by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a post on X that “no U.S. Navy vessel has been targeted,” adding that U.S. forces are supporting “Project Freedom” and tightening the maritime blockade on Iranian ports.

CENTCOM had earlier announced the start of operations to support the initiative, launched by President Donald Trump, aimed at restoring navigation for commercial vessels stranded in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian media had reported, citing sources, that two missiles were fired and struck a U.S. vessel in the strait.
