Washington, May 3 (SANA) U.S. President Donald Trump said he will review a proposal from Iran aimed at ending the war but indicated it is unlikely to be acceptable.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said he would soon examine the plan submitted by Tehran, adding he could not see it being accepted, arguing Iran “has not yet paid a sufficient price for what they have done to humanity and the world over the past 47 years.”
Speaking at a press conference in West Palm Beach, Florida, Trump said he had been briefed on the broad outlines of Iran’s response to a U.S. proposal, noting that the “exact wording” would be provided later.
He also suggested military operations against Iran could resume, saying “that could happen,” and warned Tehran could face a prolonged period to rebuild its capabilities if the confrontation continues.
Trump raised concerns about what he described as a lack of clarity within Iran’s leadership, citing the absence of the country’s new supreme leader from public view since the start of the conflict.
On the domestic front, he urged Democrats not to obstruct U.S. policy toward Iran, describing existing sanctions as “light.”
On Friday, Trump said he did not plan to seek congressional approval to continue military action against Iran after the expiration of a 60-day period under U.S. constitutional provisions.
