Riyadh, Apr.23 (SANA) The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan and Türkiye condemned the repeated violations of the historical and legal status of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem by the Israeli occupation authorities, particularly the ongoing incursions into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound by settlers and extremist ministers under the protection of Israeli police.
In a joint statement quoted Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Thursday, the ministers declared that those provocative acts at al-Aqsa Mosque constitute a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, represent an unacceptable provocation to Muslims worldwide, and are a blatant violation of the sanctity of the holy city.
The ministers affirmed their categorical rejection of any attempts to change the historical and legal status in Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites, reiterating that the entire 144-dunum area of the al-Aqsa Mosque compound is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims.
They also condemned all illegal settlement activities, including Israel’s decision to approve the construction of more than 30 new settlements.
