Occupied Jerusalem, April 12 (SANA) Violence escalated across several areas of the West Bank on Sunday, with increased settler attacks alongside Israeli military raids and arrests, according to Palestinian sources.
Palestinian media reported that settlers set up tents on land belonging to the village of Madama, south of Nablus, in an attempt to establish a new outpost, preventing farmers from accessing their land.
In the southern West Bank, local sources said settlers attacked residents of Tuba village in the Yatta area near Hebron, using pepper spray and injuring three people, including a child. Armed settlers also assaulted shepherds in the Masafer Yatta area, preventing them from grazing livestock under threat of weapons.
In Hebron, Palestinian families in the Tel Rumeida neighborhood were subjected to physical and verbal assaults while attempting to leave their homes, with Israeli forces present in the area. In the Jordan Valley, reports said settlers pursued communities in Ras al-Ahmar and al-Malih and damaged water infrastructure used for livestock, in what were described as attempts to force residents to leave.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces carried out raids across multiple cities and towns, including Hebron, Nablus, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Jericho, Salfit, Jenin and Tulkarm, arresting 17 Palestinians, including a woman, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.
WAFA reported that seven Palestinians, including a child, were injured during the raids due to live fire and the use of stun grenades and tear gas by Israeli forces. Two young men were shot near the separation barrier west of Hebron, while others were injured in Nablus and several people suffered from tear gas inhalation in al-Ram, north of Jerusalem.
Tensions in the West Bank have risen in recent months, with frequent military raids and settler attacks amid the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza.
