Washington, April 5 (SANA) U.S. President Donald Trump said Sunday that the U.S. military had rescued a second pilot who had been missing after an F-15 fighter jet crashed inside Iran.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the operation was carried out in recent hours, describing it as “one of the most daring search and rescue operations in U.S. history.”
He added that the mission involved dozens of aircraft and was monitored from the White House Situation Room.
The rescued pilot, a colonel, was injured but is expected to recover, the president said.
U.S. and Iranian forces raced to reach the pilot. Iranian authorities had announced a reward for his capture, while U.S. forces intensified search efforts since Friday to locate the aircraft’s crew.
The crash marked the first reported loss of a U.S. fighter jet inside Iran since the start of the conflict.
Trump said the incident marked “the first time two American pilots have been rescued in separate operations inside hostile territory.” U.S. media earlier reported that special forces rescued one of the two pilots, while search operations continued for the second before his rescue was confirmed.
