Geneva, March. 30 (SANA) The World Health Organization said on Monday that 52 Lebanese health-sector workers have been killed in Israeli airstrikes, according to remarks by Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
Tedros said in a post on the social platform X that a paramedic was killed when an ambulance was struck in the southern Lebanese town of Bint Jbeil. He added that a medical warehouse in the same area was destroyed in the attack.
He noted that the organization had previously verified 51 deaths among Lebanese health workers, including nine paramedics killed on Saturday.
“Attacks on health facilities must stop immediately. This cannot become the norm. Health workers are protected under international humanitarian law and must not be targeted,” Tedros said.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health said that total casualties from Israeli strikes since March 2 have reached 1,238 deaths and 3,543 injuries, including 124 children and 52 health-sector workers.
