Amman, March 14 (SANA) Jordan on Saturday strongly condemned the targeting of the United Arab Emirates’ Consulate in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq for the second time within a week. The attack left two members of the consulate’s security staff injured and caused material damage to the building.
In a statement carried by Petra News Agency, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the need to respect international law, including Geneva and Vienna Conventions on Diplomatic Relations, which guarantee the protection of diplomatic missions and their personnel. The ministry also reaffirmed Jordan’s full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates.
The consulate was previously targeted last Tuesday by a drone strike that caused material damage but no injuries, prompting condemnation from several countries, including Syria.
The region has seen ongoing military escalation since February 28, amid rising tensions involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran, including Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting facilities across several Arab countries.
