Iraq condemns attacks on diplomatic missions, reaffirms commitment to their protection

Baghdad, March 11 (SANA) – Iraq reaffirmed its firm rejection of any attacks targeting diplomatic and consular missions, stressing its commitment to ensuring their protection so they can operate in a safe environment.

According to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Foreign Ministry said in a statement Tuesday that it strongly condemned attacks targeting diplomatic and consular missions in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, describing such acts as unacceptable.

The ministry reiterated Iraq’s “firm position rejecting any assault on diplomatic and consular missions,” emphasizing its commitment to providing full protection in line with relevant international obligations.

It added that Iraqi authorities are closely following up on incidents involving diplomatic missions and will take necessary legal measures against those responsible to ensure their security and prevent such attacks from recurring.

Earlier Tuesday, the United Arab Emirates announced that its consulate in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq had been targeted by a drone attack, causing material damage but no casualties.
