Ankara, Feb. 19 (SANA) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed hope that the Board of Peace would contribute to achieving lasting stability and a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
“The issue of Gaza is a test of human conscience, and our position regarding this test is clear and firm,” Anadolu news agency quoted Erdogan as telling journalists during his return from Ethiopia on Wednesday.
Erdogan stressed the need to end the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza amid ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire. He said Türkiye would support any initiative that serves the interests of the Palestinian people.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Jan. 15 the establishment of the Board of Peace, linked to a peace plan he proposed for Gaza. The council’s first meeting is scheduled for Feb. 19 in Washington.
