Israeli airstrikes hit Beirut

Beirut, March 3 (SANA) At least 52 people were killed and 154 wounded over the past 24 hours as Israeli airstrikes struck Beirut’s southern suburbs and parts of southern Lebanon, Lebanese media reported.

The raids targeted Haret Hreik and Ghobeiri, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky. The strikes followed Israeli military warnings to evacuate four buildings, which it said were linked to Hezbollah militia, urging civilians to move at least 300 meters away.

Evacuation alerts later expanded to 53 villages in southern Lebanon, including Kfar Rumman, Habboush and Khiam, with residents ordered to leave immediately and move at least 1,000 meters away.

Lebanese authorities said the number of displaced people has reached 29,000 and is expected to rise as airstrikes continue.

Earlier, Hezbollah said it had launched drones targeting the Ramat David airbase in northern Israel.

The escalation comes despite a Lebanese government decision banning Hezbollah’s military activity and requiring the group to hand over its weapons to the state.
