Beirut, March 2 (SANA) Israeli airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs and parts of south Lebanon early Monday killed at least 31 people and wounded 149 others, Lebanon’s Health Ministry said, describing the figures as preliminary.
The Lebanese National News Agency quoted the ministry’s Public Health Emergency Operations Center as saying the casualties resulted from “Israeli enemy raids” on the densely populated southern suburbs of the capital, commonly known as Dahiyeh, and in several areas of south Lebanon. The figures were not final and could rise as rescue efforts continued.
According to the ministry, 20 people were killed and 91 wounded in the southern suburbs of Beirut. In south Lebanon, 11 people were killed and 58 wounded.
Emergency teams were working to clear debris and transport the wounded to nearby hospitals, the ministry said.
