London, Feb. 24 (SANA) – The UK government announced on Tuesday its largest sanctions package to date targeting Russia’s oil sector, aiming to disrupt key revenue streams supporting Moscow’s war in Ukraine.
According to an official statement, the measures target 175 companies linked to the 2Rivers network, as well as PJSC Transneft, which transports more than 80 percent of Russia’s oil exports.
The UK said the sanctions are designed to cut off critical financing, military-related supply chains and revenue flows sustaining Russia’s war effort.
The announcement comes as European Union member states have yet to reach agreement on a 20th round of EU sanctions against Russia, with the war now entering its fifth year and no political settlement in sight.
