Palestinian Presidency condemns annexation plans, target Palestinian existence

Occupied Jerusalem, Feb. 8 (SANA) – The Palestinian Presidency condemned the occupation’s plans to annex the West Bank, calling them an extension of the occupying forces’ ongoing war against the Palestinian people and a dangerous escalation aimed at erasing Palestinian presence, rights, and national identity across all occupied Palestinian land, particularly in the West Bank.

In a statement on Sunday, the Presidency said the annexation schemes amount to the practical implementation of policies of land seizure and forced displacement. It stressed that these measures constitute a clear violation of international law and UN resolutions, and represent an attempt to legitimize settlement expansion, land confiscation, and the destruction of Palestinian property.

The Presidency warned against any infringement on Islamic and Christian holy sites, noting that any attack on the Ibrahimi Mosque is unacceptable. It held the occupying authorities fully responsible for the continued assaults on religious sites, saying such actions risk igniting further tensions, especially with the approach of Ramadan.

The Presidency urged the international community to intervene immediately and take serious action to halt the occupation’s dangerous measures, which threaten ongoing international efforts to de‑escalate and prevent further deterioration in the region.

The occupying forces continue their open‑ended campaign against Palestinian presence in the West Bank as part of broader annexation plans aimed at eliminating the Palestinian cause and destroying any prospect of establishing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
