Moscow, Feb. 24 (SANA) Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) said Tuesday that France and Britain are preparing to supply Ukraine with a nuclear weapon, an accusation likely to further escalate tensions between Moscow and Western capitals.
In a statement carried by Russian media, the SVR said that London and Paris believe current developments in Ukraine leave little chance of achieving victory over Russia through conventional means. It added that Western officials view the potential transfer of “super weapons” as a way to strengthen Kyiv’s negotiating position in the conflict.
According to the statement, Britain and France are “actively working” on plans to provide Ukraine with such weapons and related delivery systems. The agency also alleged that discussions include the covert transfer of European components, equipment and technology in the nuclear field.
The SVR further claimed that the possible use of France’s TN75 miniaturized warhead, deployed on the M51 submarine-launched ballistic missile, was under consideration. The allegations could not be independently verified, and there was no immediate response from Paris or London.
