Washington, Jan. 11 (SANA) U.S. Central Command said Saturday that American forces, working with coalition partners, carried out large scale airstrikes against multiple ISIS targets in Syria, part of a newly launched campaign aimed at dismantling the group’s capabilities.
The strikes are part of Operation Eagle Eye, which began on Dec. 19, 2025, under orders from President Donald Trump. The operation was initiated in direct response to a Dec. 13 ISIS attack near Palmyra that killed two U.S. soldiers and an American civilian interpreter serving alongside Syrian forces.
CENTCOM said, in a press release on their website, that Saturday’s raids hit several ISIS positions across Syria, underscoring what it described as a continuing commitment to eliminate threats against U.S. and coalition troops, prevent future attacks, and safeguard regional stability.
The Jordanian Armed Forces confirmed that the Royal Jordanian Air Force took part in the strikes. In a statement, Amman said the missions were coordinated with international partners, including Syria, and were intended to neutralize extremist groups and prevent them from regrouping or using Syrian territory as a staging ground for attacks on neighboring states.
Jordan added that the participation reflects its broader policy of combating terrorism and contributing to regional security.
The Pentagon announced last month that Operation Eagle Eye had already targeted dozens of ISIS sites in Syria, with several allies, including Jordan, joining the campaign following the deadly Palmyra attack.
