Jordan’s King calls for support to Syria and Lebanon in maintaining stability

Jordan’s King Abdullah II stressed the importance of supporting Syria and Lebanon in preserving their security, stability and territorial integrity, the Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported on Tuesday.

King Abdullah made the remarks during talks with British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper in Amman, which focused on strengthening Jordan–UK relations in various fields, particularly trade, industry and defense.

According to Petra, the two sides reviewed regional developments, with the King emphasizing the need to ensure compliance with the agreement to end the Israeli war on Gaza and to intensify international humanitarian efforts for the Palestinian people.

He also warned of the dangers of escalation against Palestinians in the West Bank and of attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

King Abdullah commended the United Kingdom’s role in promoting calm and peace in the region, expressing appreciation for Britain’s recognition of the State of Palestine last September.
