A U.S. Navy helicopter and a fighter jet crashed separately into the South China Sea the U.S. Navy said, adding all personnel were safe.

About 30 minutes later, an F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter also crashed while conducting routine operations from Nimitz. Both crew members ejected and were safely recovered, the Navy said.
The causes of the two crashes were under investigation, the statement said.
