The Gaza Symbolic Independent Tribunal ruled on Sunday that Israel has been committing genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and called for the establishment of an international anti-Zionist movement to end this genocide.
According to Turkey’s Anadolu Agency, the tribunal emphasized that Israeli actions against Palestinians, such as collective punishment, starvation measures, denial of medical care, and forced displacement, are part of a broader apartheid system rooted in supremacist Zionism.
The ruling was issued after the tribunal’s sessions, which began last Thursday under the chairmanship of Professor Richard Falk, former UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories. Hearings covered several files, including ‘Crimes,’ ‘Targeting of Civilians,’ and ‘International Complicity.’
The tribunal also called for the activation of the United Nations General Assembly’s “United for Peace” resolution to establish an international protection force for Palestinian territories and to halt the ongoing genocide, citing the paralysis of the UN Security Council due to the U.S. veto.
The “Gaza Tribunal” is an independent international initiative launched in London in 2024, composed of scholars, intellectuals, and human rights defenders. It was founded in response to the international community’s failure to uphold international law and protect civilians in Gaza.
