UN: at least 75 Palestinians died in Israeli detention since October 2023

New York-SANA

At least 75 Palestinians, including a 17-year-old, have died due to torture in Israeli prisons since October 7, 2023.” according to a report released on Wednesday by the UN human rights office in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

The office said Israeli authorities-imposed detention conditions amounting to torture, contributing to deaths, and denied Red Cross access. Documented abuses include beatings, waterboarding, sexual and gender-based violence, and denial of food, hygiene, and medical care.

The UN stressed that such acts constitute war crimes and may amount to crimes against humanity, calling on Israel to end systematic torture and protect detainees’ right to life.
