Seoul – SANA
South Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has confirmed the country’s first case of highly pathogenic avian influenza this year at a poultry farm in Paju, north of Seoul.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the authorities immediately implemented quarantine measures, including restricting access to the farm, culling infected birds, and launching comprehensive epidemiological investigations. The government also raised its alert level from “attention” to “caution.”
This marks the first outbreak of the current season and comes earlier than in recent years, raising concerns over the potential for wider spread of the virus in the coming months.
