Iraq: Israeli attack on Qatar represents a flagrant violation of its sovereignty

Baghdad, SANA – The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned on Tuesday the Israeli attack on the Qatari capital, Doha, stressing that it is a cowardly act that represents a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territory of the State of Qatar.

The Iraqi News Agency (INA) quoted the ministry as saying in a statement: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the Republic of Iraq’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the targeting of Hamas leaders in the Qatari capital, Doha, and considers it a cowardly act that represents a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territory of the brotherly State of Qatar and poses a threat to its security and stability.”

The ministry added: “This attack comes in the context of the continued systematic policy of killing and displacement pursued by the occupying entity against the Palestinian people, which exposes regional and international security and peace to further tension and escalation.”

According to the statement, the ministry reiterated Iraq’s firm stance in standing with the government and people of the brotherly State of Qatar, and fully supporting it in confronting any attacks that undermine its sovereignty or threaten its national security, noting the need for the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in putting an end to these aggressive practices.
