Tripoli– Sixteen people were injured in an ammunition depot explosion in Sukirat area of Misrata on Monday, according to Libya’s ambulance and emergency service.
Spokesman Osama Ali told Libya’s state news agency (WAL) that all casualties were transferred to Misrata’s medical center and clinics, noting that their conditions were not serious.
He added that the chain of explosions has stopped, but fires sparked by the blast are still being tackled by firefighting crews.
The explosions caused damage to residential buildings, road closures, and interruptions to electricity and communications in Misrata, one of Libya’s largest coastal cities..
