31 countries condemn Netanyahu’s statements regarding the so-called ‘Greater Israel’

Amman, SANA-The foreign ministers of 31 Arab and Islamic countries, along with the secretaries-general of the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Gulf Cooperation Council, strongly condemned the statements made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the so-called “Greater Israel.”

“While Arab and Islamic countries reaffirm their respect for international legitimacy and the UN Charter, particularly Article 2, Paragraph 4, which prohibits the use of force or threats, these nations will adopt all policies and measures that promote and institutionalize peace, serving the interests of all countries and peoples in security, stability, and development, far from illusions of domination and the imposition of power.” In a joint statement on Friday, the ministers said.

The ministers condemned the occupation authorities’ approval of the settlement plan in the “E1” area of occupied Jerusalem, stressing that these statements and schemes constitute a flagrant violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions, and pose a direct threat to Arab and regional national security and international peace.

The firmly rejected these illegal Israeli measures, which aim to alter the demographic and geographic character of the occupied Palestinian territories and undermine the possibility of establishing an independent, sovereign Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967, borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The statement also warned of the dangers of Israel’s expansionist policies and attempts to annex Palestinian lands, as well as its violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites—foremost among them Al-Aqsa Mosque / Al-Haram Al-Sharif.

The statement called on the international community, especially the permanent members of the UN Security Council, notably the United States, to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities by compelling Israel to halt its aggression and violations, provide international protection for the Palestinian people, enable them to attain their legitimate rights, foremost among them the right to establish an independent sovereign state, and hold accountable those responsible for crimes committed against them.
