Health Ministry, delegation from Qatar Red Crescent discuss ways to strengthen health cooperation

Damascus, SANA- Acting Minister of Health Dr. Maher al-Sharaa discussed Saturday with a delegation from the Qatar Red Crescent ways to bolster health and humanitarian cooperation.

During the meeting held at the Ministry building, the two sides discussed the importance of focusing during the current stage on improving the health and humanitarian situation of the Syrian people, in addition to equipping field hospitals in a number of provinces.

Dr. al-Sharaa indicated that the ministry is working to meet the emergency needs of the health sector during the current period, in a list of priorities including dialysis patients, cancer patients and those with thalassemia, stressing the importance of supporting humanitarian organizations to upgrade the health situation.

In turn, Assistant Secretary-General of the Qatar Red Crescent, Mohammed Al-Bishri, specified that supporting the health sector in Syria includes providing medicines, supporting for the dialysis unit, as well as equipping the Syrian Red Crescent facilities with the necessary materials and supplies.
